After manual sorting and the Eddy Current, the materials head to the Optical Sorter to mechanically sort PET. PET is the plastic that has a #1 on it and are generally water and soda bottles.
The Optical Sorter is designed to sort the PET by optically scanning the materials and generating a puff of air on any materials it deems to be PET plastic. That puff of air pushes the PET bottles off on a conveyor belt to go through quality control.
From here the PET will be stored in a holding bunker until it is baled. Trash will go on to the trash bunker.
