Why Recycle?

Recycle SymbolWhat is recycling?

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” is the mantra we hear every time there’s a discussion about recycling. Reducing waste means not only to reduce the volume of waste that goes to the landfills, but it also means decreasing the amount of dangerous chemicals that seep into the soil and pollute the air due to improper waste disposal. Reuse is extending the usage of most of the items we have by reusing. And, as represented by the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle icon, we must make recycling part of our everyday lifestyles.

Why is recycling important?

It’s important to recycle to help protect our environment. According to the EPA, approximately 35 percent of the municipal solid waste is made up of paper and paperboard products. And, paper is the most recyclable.

There’s no reason to throw trash into the landfills when it can just as easily be placed in a bin for recycling. And, what business owner doesn’t want to be able to tout his or her operation as “green.” Everyone is jumping on this environmental bandwagon because it’s the RIGHT thing to do.

Recycling conserves resources, prevents emissions, saves energy, supplies valuable raw material to industry, creates jobs, and reduces the need for more landfill space!

Recycling not only saves your business money, it might very well make money for your company! Depending on the type of business you have and the scrap materials your operation produces, you may be able to be paid for some of your refuse!
