Record Year

We are pleased to announce that 2015 was another record year for recycling as businesses and communities throughout the Midwest reached new heights in green initiatives! In one year alone, 338,804,000 pounds of material was diverted from the landfill through Midwest Fiber’s wide range of recycling services.

Picture This

What would 338,804,000 pounds of material look like? Picture yourself wading through 3 feet of recyclables for a distance equal to 100 football fields. While this may not provide the prettiest sight or sweetest aroma, all of the items surrounding you become useful raw materials! The discarded turns out to be beneficial, and materials that could be occupying the landfill are brought back into production.

Environmental Impacts

That amount of recycled material also produces astounding environmental impacts. In one year alone, enough energy was saved to power an electric heater rated at 1000 watts for 2,402,120,360 hours, and spare 2,371,628 full-sized trees from being cut down to make new paper! These impacts wouldn’t have been possible without our valued partners’ dedication to maintaining sustainable business practices.

We look forward to a green 2016!

Mining is the world's most deadly occupation. On average, 40 mine workers are killed on the job each day, and many more are injured. Recycling reduces the need for mining.
